Can't write to floppy, can't 'repair' Vista
This was a brand new LG DVD-ROM. On their web site for driver support they of course do not list Windows Vista yet. Would the XP driver work? Or can someone recommend a different Do you run this after you install the target OS or before, using some sort of DOS boot floppy like an old windows 98 startup disk?

installing vista on a computer with no OS
I even got another Vista install disk to try to get to the repair screen. I've reset the Master Boot Record. No effect. Still ends up at the same Blue Screen/error message. It loaded the Windows files from the CD/DVD drive, but went to the Blue Screen. I also tried an application called PowerSuite 2008.

As said, the key point is: they all load the boot sector of the active partition. So when you install xp after vista, the key point is to restore the boot sector. have tried the DVD on other machines where it would boot. They have tried multiple DVD players on the offending machine with no joy. Hope you have better luck, but since some have had luck installing it from a hard drive, you might search for the procedures that have been used with success.
